Unveiling Hidden Gems: Off-Season Travel Destinations You Need to Visit
Most people have plans for a holiday at least once a year and they will also have preference for the seasons they want to holiday in. Some of them will have budgetary limitations i.e. they may not have the right funds for the vacation they have in mind. There will be others who are not able to get time off work or study due to various reasons. For them, there are the off-season destinations, the cities or towns where the weather will be pleasant enough or where you will be paying much less than if you came here in the peak season.
Where you are still welcome
There are also what are known as the shoulder seasons, months just after or before the peak season, where you will find the temperatures you are looking for but without the crowds. You may have a beach destination in your mind, but you may not be able to get there in on-season, there may still be just enough time to catch the sunshine and the warmth. Here we list for you some destinations that will allow you the same level of fun and entertainment in the off-season as if you came here in the peak season.
Mexico City, Mexico
Most tourists come to this city when it's winter in their part of the world. It rains here from May to October, but not too excessively in these 2 months. We are not recommending that you come here when it rains, as there will be days full of sunshine in these months. You will not only find cheap flights but with fewer incoming visitors you will be able to find cheap accommodation too. There are popular museums and you will not have to queue in long lines. The main squares and old palaces will not be too crowded either. If you enjoy Mexican cuisine, there will be seats available for you in the major restaurants.
Auckland, New Zealand
This city is on the North Island of New Zealand and has 2 harbors on 2 sides. The off-season here is from June to August when it will get cold and can get damp. The city itself has a lot to offer to those who come here for holidays and there are mountains, forests, rivers and beaches to enjoy nearby. If you missed skiing in winter in your part of the world, there are peaks here that will allow you to follow your passion. You can go rafting in the rivers or go hiking in the forests. You can expect to get flights and accommodations for less in these months, though you should come prepared for the weather that you will have to face.
Crete, Greece
This is the biggest of the many Greek islands in the Mediterranean Sea. The off-season here is in the winter, from November to February, though there is no need to be disappointed with October and March having enough warmth for you. The waters will be warm enough to go for a swim and you will be able to visit the archaeological sites that are recommended to the tourists. This you will be able to do without many people around you, so you will be able to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells even more. You can even go camping here if you intend to or catch ferries to nearby islands
